On Wednesday, the House and Senate voted to approve emergency funding to mitigate the impact of the Coronavirus in Michigan. The legislation includes $40 million for public health emergency response such as monitoring and testing, $50 million to support hospitals, nursing homes, and other critical health care facilities, and $35 million in other response activities. Additionally, the bill uncaps Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s authority to accept relief funds from the federal government for the next 90 days. This week’s approved funding is in addition to the $25 million in emergency funding the legislature approved last week.
