State Bonding Reforms Approved

Mar 06, 2020

The Senate approved of a resolution and legislation making reforms to the process the state uses to bond for transportation projects. Under the proposed changes, the State Transportation Commission must notify the legislature of its intent to issue over $100 million in transportation bonds at least 30 days prior to authorization. The legislature would have the ability to reject those bonds within 30 days. The commission would continue to use the current process of issuing bonds for amounts up to the $100 million threshold. The legislation has been referred to the House Transportation Committee for consideration.
