Governor Calls Special Election for Open House Seat

Nov 15, 2019

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has called for a special election to fill the vacant 34th House seat following the resignation of former State Representative Sheldon Neeley (D-Flint) after he was elected Flint mayor. The special primary election will be held on January 7, 2020 and the special general election will be held on March 10, 2020. The filing deadline to be placed on the special primary election ballot is November 19. The winner of the general election will serve the remainder of the current term, which ends on December 31, 2019.

The 34th House District includes a portion of the City of Flint in Genesee County.
