Sports Wagering in Michigan would be legal under legislation passed by the House this week. The proposal would create the Fantasy Sports Games Consumer Protection Act and provides a framework for sports wagering, updating the way gaming is conducted and regulated statewide. The legislation also allows online wagering through regulated websites and mobile apps. Current law is silent on the issue and following the 2018 U.S. Supreme Court decision that allows legalization there remains ambiguity. If passed by the legislature and signed by the governor, Michigan would join more than a dozen states that already allow sports wagering. The legislation will be sent to the Senate for further consideration.
