A package of legislation was reported by the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee which under certain circumstances allows a person’s address to be omitted from certain government documents. The program would be run by the Department of the Attorney General who would be responsible for reviewing applications to participate in the program. Participants may include victims of domestic violence, stalking, and human trafficking, among others. If a person is approved to participate, they would be issued a unique identification number and would use a designated mailing address, in lieu of their home address. The package also allows a participant to get a new driver’s license or other state identification without their home address listed. The package has been sent to the Senate floor for consideration.
