Through the general election on November 6, the MLC Blog will be highlighting races generally considered swing seats, ones either party could win because of the voter base.  Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

The 108th District is located in the Upper Peninsula and includes Delta, Dickinson, and Menominee Counties.

 Commentary

Republican Representative Beau LaFave is running for a second term in office. Despite the 60% Republican base, early in this election cycle the Democrats had the district in their sights as one they could flip. However, as the campaign wore on, it became clear to them, and others, that Rep. LaFave is favored to retain this seat despite having won just 52% of the vote in 2016.  In spite of conventional wisdom, Democrat candidate Bob Romps is working the district for votes and hopes to win this uphill race.

Democratic Candidate:

  • Bob Romps – Works at Pathways Community Mental Health
