District Overview

The 62^nd House District is located in Calhoun County.

Commentary

Representative John Bizon (R) is foregoing running for a third term in this seat to run for an open Senate seat. The district has a 50% Democratic base but has voted for Republican candidates in the past. In 2016, Democratic candidate Jim Haadsma lost the election to Representative Bizon by just over 200 votes. This year, he is back with a strong campaign and is taking on Republican candidate Dave Morgan.

Democratic Candidate:

Jim Haadsma – Labor relations and workers compensation attorney, former county commissioner

Republican Candidate:

Dave Morgan – Penfield Charter Township Supervisor, U.S. Air Force Veteran, former locomotive engineer for Amtrak
