This week, Lt. Governor Brian Calley traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark to attend the ITS World Congress. An annual event, it provides an opportunity for stakeholders to meet and discuss ways to move initiatives forward. Additionally, it showcases the latest ITS achievements and raises awareness of the Host region. The ITS World Congress rotates between Europe, the Asia Pacific region, and the Americas.
The Lt. Governor participated in a Michigan-led symposium on the future of intelligent vehicle testing and deployment. He also met with leading vehicle technology companies to highlight the investment opportunities in Michigan within the mobility and tech industries. The event was led by Kirk Steudle, the Director of the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Since meeting with global mobility leaders at the ITS World Congress last year, Governor Rick Snyder has signed collaborative Memorandums of Understanding with the governments of the UK, the Netherlands, and the Austrian state of Styria.
Between January 2011 and August 2018, 406 foreign direct investment projects were created in Michigan, resulting in 51,596 jobs. Those projects generate a total capital investment of $12.7 billion.
