Through the primary election on August 7, on the MLC Blog we will be highlighting races for which the primary is the key race due to the voter base. Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

District Overview

The 55^th House District is located in Washtenaw County. The district includes August and York Townships, and portions of Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor Township, Milan, and Pittsfield Township.

Commentary

Representative Adam Zemke is serving his final term in office due to term limits. Senator Rebekah Warren is running to serve a third term in this seat, having previously served two terms in the House prior to her election to the Michigan Senate. She is term limited from running again in the Senate. The district has a 67% Democratic base, making the primary race key.
