Through the primary election on August 7, on the MLC Blog we will be highlighting races for which the primary is the key race due to the voter base. Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

District Overview

The 40^th House District is located in Oakland County, including Birmingham, Bloomfield Township, Bloomfield Hills, and a portion of West Bloomfield Township. The district has a 52% Republican base.

Commentary

Due to term limits, Representative Mike McCready (R) is serving his final term in office, leaving this seat open. Insiders view both primary races as competitive, and the general election for this seat should also be competitive.

Nicole Bedi – Registered dietician
Mari Manoogian – Worked at the State Department, former intern for retired Congressman John Dingell and former UN Ambassador Samantha Powers

Republican Candidates:

Mike Banerian – Vice President of his family's wine distribution company
Malissa Bossardet – President of a marketing company
Paul Seacrest – Retired purchaser at Chrysler
Paul Taros – Owner/operator of a public tax accounting firm
David Wolkinson – Attorney, owns and manages a portfolio of multi-family apartments
Joe Zane – Major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves
