Through the primary election on August 7, on the MLC Blog we will be highlighting races for which the primary is the key race due to the voter base. Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

District Overview

The 29^th House District is located in Oakland County. The district includes Auburn Hills, Keego Harbor, Orchard Lake Village, Pontiac, and Sylvan Lake.

Commentary

Due to term limits, Representative Tim Greimel (D) can’t run for another term. The district has a strong 72% Democratic base, meaning the winner of the Democratic primary is all but assured to win in November.

Democratic Candidates:

Kone Bowman – Insurance agency owner, former Pontiac City Councilman, former Ford employee
Brenda Carter – Member of the Pontiac Public Schools Board of Education, certified grant writer, fiscal consultant
Mike Demand – Former community affairs coordinator for the Detroit Tigers
Chris Jackson – Project manager and product line manager
Keyon Payton – Pastor
Kermit Williams – Pontiac City Councilman, community outreach specialist

Republican Candidate:

Timothy Carrier – Small business owner
