Through the primary election on August 7, on the MLC Blog we will be highlighting races for which the primary is the key race due to the voter base. Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

District Overview

The 12^th House District is located in Wayne County. The district includes Romulus, Taylor, and a portion of Van Buren Township.

Commentary

Representative Erika Geiss (D) is foregoing a run for a third term in this seat to run for an open State Senate seat. The district has a 64% Democratic base; thus, the winner of the Democratic primary will most likely win in November.

Alex Garza – Taylor City Council member, Director of Constituent Relations for Representative Stephanie Chang, former legislative aide, former legislative assistant to the Detroit City Council
