The largest include General Motors, Ford, Dow, Whirlpool and Kellogg.
Michigan ranked 13th out of the 50 United States in gross domestic product in 2016, totaling $487.2 billion. In Summer 2017, unemployment reached a ten-year low at 3.7%.
The state's top exports include automotives, automotive parts, plastics, natural gas, civilian aircraft, silicones and batteries.
Top industries include automotives, advanced manufacturing, freshwater technology, Christmas trees, and food and agriculture.
Tourism is also a big draw to the state, with travelers spending more than $17.2 billion each year and supporting nearly 200,000 jobs in the industry.
