Restaurants Awarded for Sourcing Michigan Foods

During the 50^th annual Michigan Restaurant Show, five Michigan restaurants were presented with “Michigan GROWN, Michigan GREAT” awards. The awards were established to recognize restaurants that source fresh Michigan fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, and beverages in their restaurants. They were made possible through a partnership between the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Michigan Ag Council, and the Michigan Restaurant Association.

Among the award recipients is McDonald’s (an MLC client), who is a large supporter of buying products made and grown in Michigan. In 2015 alone, McDonald’s U.S. System purchased $163.5 million in raw products from Michigan suppliers, including; nearly 70 million dozen eggs, over 16 million pounds of apples, and 7.6 million gallons of milk. Congratulations, McDonald’s on well-deserved award!
