Michigan Reclaiming Title as Automotive Leader

Sep 06, 2017

Michigan is positioning itself to become a world-wide leader in automobile research and development.  For decades, Detroit was seen as a trailblazer due to the big-three manufacturers.  However, during the recent economic downturn, the auto industry took a large hit.  The State saw an opportunity to expand and enter a new segment of the market; R&D.

One such example is Automation Alley, a nonprofit business association.  They gather together stakeholders in the industry, with those in academia and government.  The hope is that by bringing together leaders from different industries there will be a spur of new innovation.

Automation Alley is a designated SmartZone by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.  The designation is given to geographical locations where technology-based firms, entrepreneurs, and researchers are located in close proximity to the community assets that assist in their endeavors.

This is just one of the many examples of how Michigan is positioning itself to be a world-wide leader in R&D and the go-to spot for companies looking to invest and innovate in this field.

This is only one example of innovation in Michigan, companies such as FIDO Motors are changing the landscape as we know it.  Do you know of a company, association, or individual, in your area that is modernizing and changing an industry?  Let us know in the comments, we’d love to hear about it.
