On Friday, Governor Rick Snyder appointed former state representative Aric Nesbitt as Michigan Lottery Commissioner. Prior to his three terms in office, Mr. Nesbitt served as legislative director for Congressman Tim Murphy and Congressman Tim Walberg. He earned a Bachelor in Economics from Hillsdale College and a Master in Economics and Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics. His term is effective February 19, 2017. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
The lottery commissioner is responsible for the overall management and operation of the bureau, including development of long-range plans, formulation of policy, assuring accountability and integrity of the lotter, and establishing and maintaining contact with state legislators to research, evaluate, and gauge the impact of lottery-related legislation.
