On Monday, Governor Rick Snyder appointed Brad Jacobsen to the Liquor Control Commission, representing Republicans. Mr. Jacobsen is a former state representative and was the founder and president of the non-profit organization, ‘Grow Oakland!’ He also served as an Oakland County Commissioner and an Oxford Charter Township Trustee. Mr. Jacobson has a Bachelor Degree in Social Economic Policy from Michigan State University.
Mr. Jacobsen’s replaces Edward Gaffney. He will serve a four-year term effective February 27, 2017 and expiring June 12, 2020. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
The Michigan Liquor Control Commission is housed within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. It is a five-member commission responsible for managing the beer, wine, distilled, and mixed spirit drink industries in Michigan. This includes licensing products and establishments, as well as enforcing the state’s liquor laws. No more than three members can serve from the same political party.
