Governor Makes Appointment to Court of Appeals

This week, Governor Rick Snyder announced the appointment of Brock Swartzle to the Michigan Court of Appeals, 4^th District. Mr. Swartzle currently serves as Chief of Staff and General Counsel to the Michigan House of Representatives. Prior to joining the House, he was a partner at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP. Mr. Swartzle also served as Law Clerk and Senior Law Clerk to both U.S. Court of Appeals Judge David W. McKeague and U.S. District Court Judge Steven D. Pepe.

Mr. Swartzle earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and his law degree from George Mason University School of Law. He fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Donald Owens, which takes effect January 1, 2017. Mr. Swartzle must seek reelection in November 2018.
