General Election Overview: 33rd House District

Through the general election on November 8, on every Tuesday and Thursday on the MLC Blog we will be highlighting races for which due to the voter base the seat could be won by either the Democratic or Republican candidate.  Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available, in addition to a portion of endorsements (when applicable).

District Overview

The 33rd House District is located in Macomb County.  The district includes Armada Township, Lenox Township, Ray Township, Richmond Township, and portions of Macomb Township and the City f Memphis.  The district has a 56% Republican base.

Commentary

This seat is open due to Representative Ken Goike (R-Ray Township) serving his third and final term in office.  The seat has a solid Republican base and should stay in the GOP’s column this November.

Democratic Candidate:

  • Yani Warda

Republican Candidate:

  • Jeff Yaroch – Richmond City Council member, firefighter/paramedic, attorney, and chairperson of the Transportation Coordinating Council for the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments.

    • Primary Endorsement – Michigan Farm Bureau.
