General Election Overview: 52nd House District

Through the general election on November 8, on every Tuesday and Thursday on the MLC Blog we will be highlighting races for which due to the voter base the seat could be won by either the Democratic or Republican candidate. Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available, in addition to a portion of endorsements (when applicable).

District Overview
The 52nd House District includes a portion of Ann Arbor and several other cities and townships in Washtenaw County. The district has a 51% Republican base.

Commentary
The seat was left open when Representative Gretchen Driskell (D-Saline) announced she was forgoing a third term in the Michigan House in order to run for the 7th Congressional seat against incumbent Congressman Tim Walberg. In 2012, Rep. Driskell unseated then Republican Representative Mark Ouimet (R-Scio Township). This seat is one to watch this November given the nature of the district and its base.

Democratic Candidate:

Donna Lasinski – Small business owner, Ann Arbor School Board Treasurer.
- Primary Endorsements – Michigan Realtors, Detroit Regional Chamber, Small Business Association of Michigan Small BIZ PAC, Michigan Farm Bureau, Michigan Corn Growers Association.

Republican Candidate:

Randy Clark – Small business owner, South Lyon School Board Treasurer.
