According to numbers released this week by the Department of Technology, Management, and Budget, Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for April 2016 was 4.8%. While the rate remains unchanged from the previous two months, it is eight-tenths of a percentage point below the April 2015 rate. During the month of April 2016, total employment rose by 17,000, while the number of unemployed increased by 1,000.
In the Detroit-Warren-Dearborn market, the April 2016 unemployment rate was 5.6%, a decrease of one-tenth of a percentage point from the prior month and nine-tenths of a percentage point lower than April 2015.
