Blueprint for Health Innovation Pilot Regions Announced

Mar 11, 2016

This week, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced the five pilot regions for the Blueprint for Health Innovation; Jackson County, Muskegon County, Genesee County, Nothern Region, and the Washtenaw and Livingston Counties area.  The department is continuing to work with partners to determine the final boundaries for the pilot program.

Over the next four years, Michigan will receive $70 million in federal funding to find ways to better coordinate healthcare, lower costs, and improve health care outcomes through the Blueprint for Health Innovation.  The model focuses on five areas;

  1. Patient-centered medical homes, providing high quality primary care
  2. Improving systems of care to ensure delivery of the right care, right provider, at the right time and place
  3. Community health regions building capacity to improve the overall health of the residents
  4. Paying for value rather than volume
  5. Infrastructure support facilitating improvements to reduce administrative and delivery system complexity
