General Election Overview: 58th House District

District Overview

The 58^th House District is located in portions of Macomb County, including parts of Sterling Heights, Utica, Warren, and Shelby Township.

Commentary

This district is a near 50/50 split, with Republicans having the slightest advantage with a 50.3% base. Incumbent Representative Nate Shannon is running for his third term in office. With the new district lines, he will have a bit tougher time during this election cycle than he did in the past, but he’s remains well positioned.

Democratic Candidate:

- Representative Nate Shannon – State representative, former Sterling Heights City Councilman, and high school teacher.

Republican Candidate:

- Michelle Smith – Small business owner.
