A few changes were made this week to the membership of the House Appropriations Committee. Most notable, Representative Thomas Albert (R-Lowell) resigned as chairman of the committee. Speaker Jason Wentworth announced that vice chair, Representative Mary Whiteford (R-Casco Twp.) would step into the role of chair. She is serving her third and final term in the House, due to term limits. Prior to being elected to the legislature, Representative Whiteford was a nurse in pediatric emergency and pediatric neurosurgery units. She also started an accounting business with her husband, and they run their own financial planning firm.
Filling the role of vice chair will be Representative Sue Allor (R-Wolverine) and Representative Roger Hauck (R-Mt. Pleasant) has been added to the committee to fill the vacancy on the committee left by Representative Albert.
