Commentary

Incumbent candidate, Senator Winnie Brinks, is running for her second term in office and is seen as a potential member of next term’s leadership team. Her opponent, Representative Tommy Brann, is finishing his third and final term in the House, due to term limits. While the district has a 58% Democratic base, this race is being watch due to the historically conservative nature of West Michigan and a very uncertain political year.

Democratic Candidate:

    • Senator Winnie Brinks – State senator, former state representative, previously worked as a caseworker at The Source, and as a paraprofessional.
