General Election Overview: 14th Senate District

Through the general election on November 8^th, the MLC Blog will be highlighting races generally considered swing seats, ones either party could win because of the voter base. Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

District Overview

The 14^th Michigan Senate District includes portions of Jackson and Washtenaw counties and a portion of the City of Ann Arbor.

Commentary

While the Democratic party has a slight advantage in this seat with a 55% base, the race could be competitive this fall. Both candidates have been elected to local offices, which always provides an advantage in campaign experience and name recognition.

Democratic Candidate:

- Sue Shink – Attorney, chair of the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners, farm owner, and former Northfield Township trustee.

Republican Candidate:

- Tim Golding – Builder, Grass Lake Township trustee.
