District
The 10th Congressional District is located in southeast Michigan and includes portions of Macomb and Oakland counties.
Commentary
This district is a near split, with the Democratic party having a slight edge with a 51% base. Political insiders have labeled this a race to watch this fall as both parties work towards the majority. Republican candidate John James has run unsuccessfully twice for a U.S. Senate seat, but those runs gave him name recognition in Michigan. Democratic candidate Carl Marlinga has been an elected official in Macomb County since the 1980’s, providing great name identification with voters in the county.
