Michigan’s food and agriculture businesses would be further empowered to export their products under legislation signed into law by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. The new laws allow the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to certify the quality of agricultural products manufactured in Michigan and issue certificates of free sale, which shows a product is approved by regulatory authorities within the United States. It’s believed this will boost the state’s economy by ensuring Michigan food and agricultural businesses are able to export their products to other nations. The signing of this bipartisan package brings the total number of bipartisan bills signed by Governor Whitmer to 878.
