Committee Approves of Income Tax Reduction

The Senate Finance Committee reported legislation that would reduce Michigan’s income tax rate. Under the proposal, the state’s personal income tax rate would be reduced from 4.25% to 3.9%. Michigan’s Unemployment Rate Declines

Last month, the state’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate declined by three-tenths of a percentage point to 5.6%. During December, the number of employed increased by 16,000, while those unemployed decreased by 15,000.
